Without question, one of the most important events, if not the most important. A long story that has been told so many times.
This day is dedicated to welcoming the crews of the 24 Super Series yachts.
Two sublime Auric schooners, Elena of London and her spectacular 41 metres (Herershoff 2009) as well as Puritan metres (Alden 1930) will be sailing on the water like in the best hours before Covid. For the Modern yachts, 22 Maxis yachts, bearing the signatures of the greatest contemporary architects and shipyards - Frers, Farr or even Wally, Swan, Mylius, Hoek - animated by high-flying crews, will be racing until Friday 9 October. It is an opportunity to see in action in front of the Saint-Tropez quay some breathtaking boats that the very particular context of this 2020 season has prevented from racing.  Courses to match the Maxis! "From Tuesday to Friday, the Maxis will race every day". Explains Georges Korhel, the Principal Race Officer: "Starting each day at 11am under the Portalet. We're going to experience a Mistral wind regime that will be conducive to some very nice races. We're keeping the same races as in week 1, but with the added possibility of much longer coastal races, as these Maxis are capable of high average speeds.

We're sending them to Le Lavandou, and if the Mistral, between 15 and 25 knots, is there, we could send them to Brégançon around the middle of the week, with a course of 25 to 30 miles. We will be working with the same team as last week on the race committee, supported by Ariane Mainemare, sent by the International Maxi Association, our partner for the week, and who knows perfectly well the specificities of these big boats. There will be two or three starts for the three groups competing. The classic schooners will have their own start and will start last.

Les Voiles is the only race of the season for these boats. We're delighted that they've made the effort to come and we'll make the courses to suit them."

From Tuesday 4 to Saturday 8 October 2022.

Free access.
