Expositions Andreas KURUS
From 18 to 24 august 2022
Artiste peintre/sculpteur, exposition au Lavoir Vasserot
Painter/sculptor, exhibition at Lavoir Vasserot
Kurus is the opposite of the cosmopolitan and passionate artist. He works far from the hustle and bustle of the world's art metropolises and brings collectors from Paris and Berlin to his studio. His abstract paintings are untitled, a way of not being corrupted by figuration or titles. Numbers and stripes run through almost monochrome pictorial landscapes. One guesses echoes of Monet or Cy Twombly, but also of the automatic writing of the Surrealists.
It is not the representation of realities, but abstraction and the spiritual and symbolic abstraction hidden behind the concrete that is Kurus' intention.
The large-format pictures surprise with an extraordinary effect due to a special application technique: several layers of synthetic resin, reworked with acrylics and oils, watercolour chalks, wax crayons and pencils, give the pictures a "3D" appearance.
