The SNST : A big family
The yacht club "Société Nautique" organizes the "Aoûtienne" sailing regatta.
Two days of competition with 50 sailing ships.
Each year, during two days, the sailing race l’Aoûtienne-Trophy Robert Pourchet gathers sea lovers and members of the Société Nautique de Saint-Tropez with a chilled-out atmosphere (the opportunity to exercise before one of the biggest event of the year Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez), for the greater pleasure of the tourists and the sailors.
This summer the event will start with a classic regatta race made up of twenty to thirty salling boats.
Sailors will compete against others in a single paddle event in the bay of Les Canoubiers, followed by a friendly lunch at the sailing school. A great opportunity to combine physical effort and pleasure of the table!
After that, winners of the regatta will be awarded prizes by the mayor of Saint-Tropez.
A little background…
For more that eighteen year, Mr. Robert Pourchet, member of the Société Nautique de Saint-Tropez, created the sailing regatta Pourchet Trophy, a sailing race of thirty sailing boats.
Right after a convivial lunch around a tasty paella on saturday, boats went out to the Gulf odf Saint-Tropez for the first afternoon of the competition.
They played a second round on Sunday afternoon in order to be able to establish a rakink list for the two days. Once this has been achieved, the competition was ended by the awards ceremony, which awarded winners (as well as non-winners!) with a symbolic prize.
As a result, it’s been a tradition for the Société Nautique de Saint-Tropez to perpetuate the Pourchet and the story of Mr. Robert Pourchet and his family.
« We had to change some principles of the Pourchet, withoutabandoning the values of Mr. and Mrs. Pourchet and their child » said André Beaufils, CEO of the SNST.
