On the occasion of the European Heritage Days, the town of Saint-Tropez is launching Archistoire© Saint-Tropez in partnership with the CAUE (Council for Architecture, Town Planning and the Environment) in Var.
A free mobile application that allows you to explore exceptional places in 360 degrees, to discover its heritage and history in an intensive and intuitive way.
Available free of charge on stores from 15 September 2020.
An improved visitor experience
Archistoire© Saint-Tropez proposes cultural visits in hybrid realities. This original content is the result of a collaborative effort between historians, architects and professionals from the world of culture and digital technology.
Borrowing from the codes of augmented reality and virtual reality, the application works on the principle of interactive panoramas. By touching the interactive zones on the screen, the visitor accesses exclusive content linked to the perceived elements. Going back in time, virtually entering inaccessible places... the walk becomes a unique and memorable journey!
Two tours already available
The Archistoire© Saint-Tropez application offers two detailed walks, accessible both on site and remotely, and available in French and English versions:
- Saint-Tropez, a city to defend : through the vestiges of the village's defensive heritage, visitors discover the fascinating history of a fortified village that has become a legend for tourists from all over the world.
- Architecture narrates the city : along the streets, visitors discover the architectural details that tell the secrets of the village of Saint-Tropez.
A 100% Var project
Archistoire© is a tool for the interpretation, promotion and mediation of architectural and landscape heritage, born from the encounter between the CAUE Var and the cultural innovation agency 9b+. In 2018, the city of Saint-Tropez signed an agreement with the CAUE Var to create a mobile application to promote its heritage and history. The Archistoire© Saint-Tropez application, created by the 9b+ agency in partnership with the CAUE Var, and launched this year on the occasion of the European Heritage Days, is the concrete expression of this partnership.
