Georges Dudognon, regard sur le cinéma de la Côte d’Azur, photographies 1949-1966
From 10 october 2016 to 14 january 2017
Georges Dudognon (1922-2001) is a photographer linked to the humanist movement which included Robert Doisneau, Edouard Boubat or Willy Ronis.
Becoming famous for his impressive pictures of the Saint-Germain-des-Prés during the post-war period, his photographs are exhibited in prestigious museums such as the Tate Modern of London and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
The works of Georges Dudognon is now restored and revealed by his son-in-law Thierry de Beaumont who manages the capital shortly before he died in 2001.
Georges Dudognon explored the French Riviera from 1949 to 1966 and had an intransigent eye on the cinema of the 1960's, from Jean-Luc Godard to the Cannes film Festival, from Jean Cocteau or Brigitte Bardot to important American producers. This exclusive collection, presented to the public for the first time in France at the Gendarmerie and Cinema Museum in Saint-Tropez, tells a bold story of the spectacular world of cinema in the French Riviera with neither concession nor voyeurism.
