Grimaud in few words : medieval village and lakeside city
- Grimaud, a medieval village in all its glory
The history of Grimaud began at the Gallo-Roman era. Highest point of the bay located on a hill, the village was the perfect location for great strategists. Until the 17th century, the castle of Grimaud ruled the bay.
The village has now preserved its authenticity with narrow cobbled streets, arches and an important cultural heritage. Enjoy the discovery of the Castle, at the top of the hill, that is a not to be missed monument.
- Port-Grimaud, a successful lakeside city
The key feature of Grimaud is to have a lakeside city at the foot of the medieval village. Welcome to Port-Grimaud, a lakeside city founded in 1966 by the architect François Spoerry. An ambitious project ideally managed for the small French Venice. It is better to have a map to discover this maze of fishermen's houses and boats. An extraordinary place you should not miss!
In Grimaud, you can enjoy a festive atmosphere all year round, with the Truffle Festival, the Grimaldines World Music Festival and many other events.
