Domaine de la Croix
Of the Crus Classés de Provence, Domaine de La Croix, in La Croix Valmer in the Var in the south of France, enjoys an exceptional location and microclimate at the heart of the popular Saint-Tropez Peninsula. After experiencing a golden age, then being declared ownerless, the estate was purchased by the Bolloré Group in 2001 and has now returned to excellence. Its terroir produces fine, elegant and distinguished wines that are perfect ambassadors of the Côtes de Provence appellation of origin.
The vineyard at Domaine de La Croix is the largest of the Côtes de Provence Cru Classés, spread across 108 hectares of land bearing the Côtes de Provence appellation and divided into three very distinct terroirs that make up the wealth of the estate: Tabarin, Saunier and an exceptional site named Bastide Blanche. Its unique location on the Saint-Tropez Peninsula has given Domaine de La Croix one of its key assets: its microclimate. The grapes receive just the right amount of sunlight and sea air to thrive, producing exceptional wines.
Thanks to the expertise of Hélène Sinæve, cellar master and oenologist, and a collaboration with Michel Rolland, the estate produces gastronomic wines that are highly precise in terms of their fruit flavours and fineness. Looking to go even further in its quest for excellence, at Domaine de La Croix, the famous oenologist Michel Rolland - with Diane Nublat and Hélène Sinæve - approves the blends to produce elegant wines that express their origins, constantly aiming to create positive emotions at the moment of tasting.
In order to face new environmental challenges, the estate has adapted and strives to limit the impact of vine-growing on the environment by using as few chemical inputs as possible. The team already long ago adopted techniques that aim to use plant protection products in a better way and, eventually, stop using them altogether.
BOLD ARCHITECTURE AND STATE-OF-THE-ART TECHNOLOGY
Designed by Saint-Tropez based architect François Vieillecroze, the cellar at Domaine de La Croix is astonishingly big — 3,500 m2 — and yet, invisible! Buried eight metres below ground in order to comply with the standards required due to its location on a listed site, it integrates perfect with its setting of vines and pine forests. Within this monumental structure, the facilities are resolutely modern.
