Driven by a playful mistral, the echo of the Val d’Astier resonates to the shores of the Gulf of Saint-Tropez.
It carries the breath of the “Seignez” a couple of craftsmen winemakers, Ellen and Bruno now also joined by Arthur and Laura. Their children were lulled and raised by the scents and the values of their beloved Provence.
Twelve years later after the first steps to regain a wild nature, the Valley Val d’Astier has kept its authentic, natural identity, made for sharing.
Today, a new born valley-acre “Les pierres blanches” planted with vineyards and olive trees came to enlarge this little corner of paradise. In the eyes of Bruno and Ellen still burns the energy of those who fashioned the hill side and made it into what it is today, those who imagined how to best expose the vines to the sun and who hoped for the best to come.
The rest is always just a matter of time to let nature take its course and to let the winemaker or “peasant” a term they claim, to work the land, the vines and the olive trees. The grape loves, when at the eve of harvest comes the winemaker and then from his know-how come the beautiful colours of the rich wines. A know-how acquired by Bruno in “Bourgogne”, refined at “Bandol” and completed in “Provence” the place where he tried, listened and learned so that today from his hands may be born the main characteristics of his wines, the finesse of white, the strength of red and the many flavours of rosé.
They are vinified in the main underground cellar where the wine is protected from thermal fluctuations and it also keeps a natural freshness. “Ellen” remains an accomplished gardener, and even if she no longer makes her generous vegetable baskets loved by all, she now grows herbs and vegetables on a small piece of land at the Garrigue, which are much appreciated by the local chefs. While the sheep still roam the fields (from spring to fall) the domain is also teeming with life thanks to the bee hives that produce a sweet and beautiful honey which translates itself by the yet preserved and splendid environment. This nectar has a very strong fruity and flowery fragrance that is present in the cellar, as well as the grape juice and brand new wines which will attract the most demanding palates.
And since happiness is made for sharing we are awaiting you...
