Agnès in conversation with Nicolas Dufetel
The 02/08/2025
Les Conversations d'Agnès and Hôtel de Paris Saint-Tropez welcome Nicolas Dufetel, new cultural and strategic director of the Festival des Nuits du Château de la Moutte.
Nicolas Dufetel: a romantic in Saint-Tropez.
The Château de la Moutte is gearing up for a summer of festivities, with two exceptional celebrations: the 200th anniversary of the birth of Emile Ollivier, who took up family residence here in 1860, and the 50th anniversary of the Festival des Nuits du Château de la Moutte. At the helm is Nicolas Dufetel, the man who first told the fabulous artistic story of this venue in a book published in 2022: "Le Château de la Moutte, Un joyau romantique à Saint-Tropez" (Flammarion).
Romanticism, says this young man, is "a way of inhabiting the world".
His is multifaceted. Historian and musicologist, Deputy for Culture in his home town of Angers, Director of a festival of sacred music and a festival dedicated to Liszt, researcher, teacher, passionate and fascinating, this year he becomes the brand-new Cultural and Strategic Director of the Festival des Nuits du Château de la Moutte, alongside Gautier Capuçon, himself appointed Artistic Director. A young and qualified team, motivated by excellence and the desire to get off the beaten track, crossed by the values of romanticism, working with discretion and determination to distill a little humanism and elegance in a crazy world.
It's an ambitious task, in line with the man who first opened the gates of this magical, timeless place, immersed in a mysterious, soothing palm grove, namely Jean-Philippe Audoli, who was its artistic director for twenty-four years and to whom we pay tribute here.
