Les Conversations d'Agnès and Hôtel de Paris Saint-Tropez welcome Sophie Galabru, author of "Nos dernières fois - Défier la nostalgie".
Sophie Galabru: "Our last times" are not necessarily the end.
"Nos dernières fois" is a very fine title. Better still, it's a good title. Immediately it calls out, immediately it evokes something, immediately it engages us. We've all experienced last times. Programmed last times, decided last times, undergone last times, last times that are not the end, irreversible last times, but isn't every moment - in a lifetime - irreversible?
That's what Time is all about, unlike space. We never bathe in the same river.
Does this mean we should be nostalgic? Not necessarily. Some last times herald a new beginning, liberate, mark a before and an after, an after from which to re-invent ourselves, hence the subtitle of this third opus: Defying nostalgia.
Sophie Galabru knows, or has known, nostalgia: parents with a touch of melancholy, departures, divorce, family homes that have drifted apart, bereavements - in short, all the little pains and big sadnesses that have anchored this young woman in serious questioning. The questions of a philosopher, the questions of Michel Galabru's granddaughter, that mass of humor and gravity, the questions of the daughter of Jean, Michel's sensitive son, the questions of a woman. Which she is. Aligned in her research, she returns to us after two first books: "Le visage de nos colères" and "Faire famille", for which we received her last year. This year, she reappears with what I call a true essay like a true novel that speaks as much about her as it does about us. A personal book written in the ink of emotion and traversed from start to finish by the word: Vitality.
