Art and Disability Biennial
The fundamental aim of the Art & Mental Disability Biennial is to promote access to art for all, support inclusive artistic creation, and recognize the talent of artists with mental disabilities in cultural venues.
The Biennial brings together artists with mental disabilities and professionals for workshops, exhibitions, performances and concerts. 2025 edition: "Poetry with Lucie Cousturier".
For over ten years, Œuvre Saint-Jeannaise has organized the Biennale Européenne Art & Handicap Mental in Saint-Tropez, an artistic and cultural event celebrating the creativity of people with mental disabilities. Held every two years, the Biennial brings together disabled and professional artists, as well as medical and social organizations and volunteers, for a week of creative exchange.
Participants are welcomed into an artistic residency at the Lou Riou vacation village in Saint-Tropez, where they take part in a range of supervised workshops: painting, sculpture, musical expression, photography, etc. These workshops enable participants to acquire artistic techniques, develop a personal practice, and enhance their individual talents in a structured and caring environment. This year we are partnering with the Nuits du Château de la Moutte association, and for the closing evening we will be welcoming pianist William Theviot and musicologist Nicolas Dufetel.
The 7th edition of the Biennale will take place from September 22 to 27 and from September 23 to October 12, 2025, between Sainte-Maxime and Saint-Tropez. The theme of this year's event is "Poetry with Lucie Cousturier", to coincide with the exhibition devoted to this artist at the Musée de l'Annonciade. The biennial event aims to explore notions of memory, presence and transmission through artistic expression.
