Concert - François-Frédéric GUY: Tribute to Maurice RAVEL
The 09/10/2025
A unique opportunity to hear François-Frédéric Guy, one of the greatest pianists of his generation, in an exceptional program: Liszt, Ravel and Beethoven's Sonata No. 32.
François-Frédéric Guy enjoys an international career working alongside the greatest conductors, including Philippe Jordan, Kent Nagano, Daniel Harding and Esa-Pekka Salonen, and with prestigious orchestras such as the Wiener Symphoniker, the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, the NHK Symphony Orchestra in Tokyo and the Philharmonia Orchestra in London.
Curious about the music of his time, he is an interpreter of many contemporary composers, and regularly gives world premieres. He has recently premiered several solo pieces by Tristan Murail, as well as his latest concerto L'Oeil du Cyclone (Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France), London Barbican (BBCSO), Hamburg Elbphilharmonie (NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester) and Tokyo Opera (NHKSO).
Since 2012, François-Frédéric has regularly conducted various ensembles from the piano. He received a triumphant welcome at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in January 2020 for the opening of the theater's Beethoven Year with the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris. In September 2022, he takes over musical direction of the Microcosme ensemble.
He recently appeared in Paris in recital and with orchestra at the Philharmonie, Théâtre des Champs-Elysées and Châtelet. He has also appeared at London's Wigmore Hall, the Vilnius Philharmonic and the Grange au Lac d'Évian. He reunited with Philippe Jordan in Munich with the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks (BRSO) and in Vienna with the Wiener Symphoniker.
His most recent concerts took him to Portugal, where he conducted Beethoven's 5 concertos from the keyboard, and to Denmark, Switzerland and Japan with the NHK Symphony Orchestra. He recently took part in the jury of the Queen Elisabeth International Competition in Brussels. Recent appearances include Wigmore Hall (London), La Seine Musicale (Paris) and Printemps des Arts de Monaco with the BBC Symphony Orchestra and the Munich Philharmonic conducted by Philippe Jordan.
François-Frédéric features works by Liszt (Bénédiction de Dieu dans la Solitude), Ravel (Jeux d'eau, Une barque sur l'océan, Alborada del Gracioso) and van Beethoven (Piano Sonata No. 32 in C minor, Op. 111).
