International chess tournament and open day for locals and tourists Saint-Tropez

From May 30 to June 1, 2025, the Polish sail training ship STS Pogoria will call at Saint-Tropez for the second time, at the joint invitation of the STS Pogoria Academy and the Les Fous de la Vieille Tour chess club. The visit is part of a Franco-Polish educational and cultural program.

Among the highlights of the stopover is a France-Poland rematch chess match, organized in memory of the balanced encounter of November 11, 2024 (1:1). This friendly tournament will pit the crew of the Pogoria against members of the Tropez club, illustrating the bridges that chess can create between cultures.

An open day will enable residents and visitors to Saint-Tropez to climb aboard the ship, discover maritime life and chat with the crew. The aim is also to raise awareness among young Tropezians of the maritime tradition and the values of crew spirit.

In partnership with the Société Nautique de Saint-Tropez and the SNSM, joint sea rescue exercises will be organized, strengthening ties between Polish sailors and French first-aiders.

Members of the SNST and the Yacht Club de Saint-Tropez (YCST) will also be invited, helping to make this stopover a moment of encounter, sharing and fraternity around the sea.

This initiative, rich in symbolism, aims to strengthen European cooperation through youth, sport and the sea.
