The 08/05/2025

The Patrimoine Tropézien association has published a book on Saint-Tropez during the Second World War. Hélène Riboty and Laurent Pavlidis are the two authors. The book will be presented on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War.
The Patrimoine Tropézien association, with the support of the Ville de Saint-Tropez, has produced a book on Saint-Tropez during the Second World War to mark the 80th anniversary of the landings and the Liberation of France. Hélène Riboty, archivist for the Ville de Saint-Tropez, and Laurent Pavlidis, Doctor of History and curator of the Musée d'Histoire Maritime de la Citadelle, are the two authors. The book will be presented on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the end of the war.

The aim of this work is to keep a trace of the 2024 exhibition organized by the City of Saint-Tropez with the support of the association, while significantly enriching its content. The work begins in the 1930s, during the rise of the perils, when Saint-Tropez was already very well known, attracting not only tourists but also artists and industrialists. It ends in the 1950s, when life returned to normal, but the traces of the war were still clearly visible.

Over 250 pages in length, the book features sources from both public institutions and private archives, many of them previously unpublished.

The fact that the book has been endorsed by the French government's highest authorities, through the GIP Mission Libération, testifies to the value of this work.
At the end of the presentation, the authors will sign their book over a friendly drink.

Thursday 8 May 2025 between 6 pm and 8.30 pm.

Free entry.
