Christmas show - When Christmas goes wild...

The 17/12/2025

At first, Christmas is as easy as pie.
But little by little, the children are asking for more and more presents. Santa, keen to make the children happy, does everything he can to fulfill their wishes. Elves, gnomes, magicians and leprechauns come to his aid and create a wonderful Christmas machine, to everyone's delight.
Until all hell breaks loose...
On stage, a singer-storyteller and two musicians tell and perform this story, which resonates with young and old alike.
Each character has his or her own song, and each moment has its own music, from the children's silent anticipation on Christmas Eve to the joyous bazaar in the elves' workshop.
And the stage is decked out in a thousand colors and more.

Quand Noël s'emballe is a musical show (duration 45 min.) inspired by Gérard Moncomble's l'Affaire Noël for children (aged 3 and over) and accompanying adults.
Artistic direction: Sylvia Auclair
Cast: Sylvia Auclair, Raphaël Illes, Olivier Ronfard
Set design: Isabelle Cagnard, Aude Vanhoutte
Stage direction: Olivier Césaro, Cyrielle Denante

Note of intent
Our times are full of contradictions. While some seek their happiness in the ever-increasing (fast, far, big...), others dream of entering a more measured era, where sobriety and slowness would be vectors of connection, joy and collective prosperity.
Christmas, the time when people gather to share the warmth of a meal or a log fire, is no exception to these contradictions. Gifts are given to children, family and friends alike. Maybe it's too much, maybe it's not really necessary, maybe it's not really the point. But we do it anyway, and we delude ourselves into forgetting what's essential.
Reading L'Affaire Noël, written by Gérard Moncomble, illustrated by Blexblolex, and published by Nathan, you can feel that the magic of Christmas is disappearing behind the mountains of presents, but you can't stop the machine from inexorably spinning out of control. What if this story, these words, could reveal to us the absurdity of this material accumulation, and give us the strength to choose another path! One where the magic of Christmas, of life at last, would be conveyed by sharing, simplicity, a relationship with others and respect for our planet.

We wanted to bring this story to the stage, while giving it a touch of madness, a touch of enchantment. Because being on stage means sharing an instant, unique bond with the audience. It's a two-way gift.
About the music
In the original text, we already hear sounds, silences, a sonic texture. To bring it to life on stage, we wanted vocals and instruments to punctuate the narrative.
Songs accompany the text, sometimes to illustrate it, sometimes to give voice to the characters, sometimes to dilate time and leave room for emotion.
With a flute or saxophone, accordion, guitar and a multitude of percussion instruments, the music lends expressive force to the show, a touch of humor, a touch of poetry.
Influenced by French chanson as well as jazz and Latin music, the musicians play with moods, and the music changes color as the show progresses.
