The 08/03/2026

On March 8, to mark International Women's Rights Day, a simultaneous game will be organized with GM Aleksandra Kosteniuk, who will take on 24 players from the local Saint-Tropez club, as well as players from other clubs in the Var region.
To mark International Women's Day, an exceptional simultaneous event will be organized with the participation of 12th GM World Champion Alexandra Kosteniuk. She will face players from the local Saint-Tropez chess club, as well as players from the Côte d'Azur region.

On March 8, 2026, Saint-Tropez will host a unique event. The simultaneous event will take place in the enchanting garden of the Musée de l'Annonciade, right in the heart of the port. (In the event of bad weather, the event will be held in the Salle Louis Blanc).

The aim of the event is to promote chess among women of all ages, with a particular focus on supporting parents, mothers and their children in realizing their dreams, inspired by the careers of Alexandra Kosteniuk, Judit Polgár and other great champions who are ambassadors for our sport.

The event promotes the values of equality, solidarity and creativity in a friendly, sporting atmosphere. Free admission offers an ideal opportunity to discover chess, meet chess enthusiasts and celebrate Women's Day in a unique and festive atmosphere.
The idyllic setting of the Musée de l'Annonciade, a symbol of art and culture in Saint-Tropez, will add elegance and charm to the event. We invite you to join us in celebrating this exceptional day, combining sport and culture in an emblematic setting. In the event of adverse weather conditions, the simultaneous event will take place in the Salle Louis Blanc, in the center of Saint Tropez.

This year, participants will receive a participation gift: a souvenir bag, a copy of Europe Chess magazine autographed by the champion, T-shirts, ChessQueen key-rings, postcards, sweets and flowers. Special gifts for Alexandra Kosteniuk include a chess piece by ChessboArt, a gift from artist Stefan Szczesny and a magnetic chess set donated by Chess France.

Our club is committed to promoting women's chess in the Var department. In recent years, we have hosted major events for female players: in 2025 (March 7-10), the Prochaieva quadruplets; on June 21-22, 2025, the French Rapid Chess Championship - Trophée Roza Lallemand (over 50 players qualified from all over France); and on June 22, 2025, a simultaneous event with the national women's team (Silvia Aleksieva, Sophie Milliet, Mitra Hejazipour, Deimante Daulyte-Cornette and Pauline Guichard). From March 7 to 9, 2024, part of the French women's team, silver medalists at the 2023 World and European Rapid Chess Championships, was also hosted. These initiatives perfectly illustrate the promotion of women's chess, led by champions Sophie Milliet, Anastasia Saviny and Silvia Aleksieva. Since the club was founded on March 19, 2021, we have regularly organized chess tournaments and events. Every year, on July 20 (International Chess Day), we organize an event in the center of Saint-Tropez to promote our sport.
The "Les Fous de la Vieille Tour" club is seeking financial and media support from all individuals and organizations for its chess promotion initiatives.

We offer sponsors visibility on posters, in the local press and on social networks, as well as other forms of collaboration adapted and negotiated individually.

Sunday 8 March 2026 between 10.30 am and 1 pm.

Free entry. Free entry for the introductory session at Place de l'Ormeau and €50/person for the simultaneous game in front of the Grand Maître at Salle Jean Despas.
