Helvetika1575

Saint-Tropez has long held a unique place in art history, attracting generations of artists and collectors. It is here that Helvetika 1575 is opening a new chapter in its history.
Founded in Zug, Switzerland, the gallery presents its international contemporary art program in Saint-Tropez, featuring works by Marina Abramović, Nada Baraka, Wolfgang Becksteiner, Michèle Buhofer, Tony Cragg, Claudine Drai, Donna Huanca, Marya Kazoun, Brigitte Kowanz, Márta Kucsora, Kathryn MacNaughton, Eva Schlegel, Erin Vincent, Ai Weiwei, and Erwin Wurm, alongside great masters of modern art such as Andy Warhol and Pablo Picasso. Open year-round, Helvetika 1575 has established a lasting presence in Saint-Tropez through a program that evolves with the changing seasons.

The unique light of Saint-Tropez is reflected in many of the works on display at the gallery. It passes through the delicate layers of Japanese paper in Claudine Drai’s sculptures as well as through Tony Cragg’s glass forms, where transparency reveals complex curves and internal structures. Through its programming, the gallery highlights the remarkable diversity of artistic approaches, techniques, and sensibilities centered on material, light, and physical presence.

For Helvetika 1575, the collection begins with the encounter between a work of art and the viewer it speaks to. A first impression can evolve into a deeper appreciation of an artist’s practice, and then develop into a lasting relationship with their work. Drawing on its rich artistic heritage, international outlook, and several generations of collectors, Saint-Tropez provides a natural setting for the gallery’s commitment to fostering a special relationship with the artworks, an informed approach to collecting, and lasting connections with artists and collectors.
