Conference & Concert - Music in Marcel Pagnol's films
The 13/02/2026
A lecture on film music and sound in Marcel Pagnol's cinematographic work, followed by a concert by students from the Rostropovitch intercommunal conservatory.
- Led by Julien Ferrando, Artistic Director of the Em'AMU ensemble (Aix-Marseille University) and teacher-researcher in heritage music, new technologies and film music.
Marcel Pagnol, recognized as a pioneer of talking pictures, conceived sound as a central element of narrative and action. He developed an innovative approach using new technologies. Pagnol collaborated with great composers, notably Vincent Scotto. Recent restorations have revealed the technical and sonic richness of his works, as well as previously unpublished music. This lecture explores the aesthetic, technical and historical aspects of this little-known sound universe.
- Concert by students from the Rostropovitch intercommunal conservatory:
The Conservatoire Musique & Danse du Golfe de Saint-Tropez is pleased to present an exceptional concert. The Conservatoire's string orchestra, accompanied by several instrumental and vocal ensembles, will present a program inspired by the sensitive and popular world of Pagnol. Between film music and Mediterranean evocations, this musical moment will prolong the warm and poetic atmosphere of the exhibition. An artistic event open to all, celebrating the dialogue between heritage, music and imagination.
Friday 13 February 2026.
