Exhibition at the Lavoir Vasserot - RÊVER LA TERRE: Contemporary Aboriginal Art from Australia

The exhibition *RÊVER LA TERRE* invites you to discover a new selection of contemporary Aboriginal artworks sourced directly from Australia’s Central Desert, in a manner that respects the artists and their communities.

A modern expression of an ancestral culture dating back more than 60,000 years, contemporary Aboriginal art from Australia continues to captivate us with its variety of styles and colors, but it holds much more: the beliefs of the Aboriginal people and their ancestral myths (Dreamings). Through their works, Aboriginal artists bring to life in the present their spiritual connections to their ancestors and the land their ancestors traversed millennia ago. The ancestral energy unleashed by the patterns and symbols on the canvas cannot fail to move us, for it is expressed with incredible modernity. Aboriginal art touches us all because it expresses and, above all, teaches us what is essential: the quest for lasting harmony between humanity and nature.

All works presented by Red Dunes Gallery were personally acquired on-site directly from the represented art centers or sourced in direct collaboration with these art centers, with respect for the artists and their communities.
The represented art centers are cooperatives managed entirely by a committee of Indigenous artists. Both these artists and Red Dunes Gallery are signatories to the Indigenous Art Code (IAC) ethical charter, which guarantees the traceability of the artworks and ensures ethical practices toward the artists.

Red Dunes Gallery was founded by Céline Emery-Demion, of French-Australian origin, with the goal of promoting and sharing the richness of Aboriginal art and culture. Having grown up and lived for some twenty years on this island continent, Céline has come to appreciate its fascinating natural environment, its incredibly diverse wildlife, and its vast landscapes. Thanks to her parents, who regularly traveled with her brothers into the bush to explore the country, she was able to develop a very intimate connection with this land and its beauty from a very young age. This deeply personal attachment to the Australian landscape naturally led her to discover Aboriginal art some twenty years ago, and that discovery has since become a passion.

Now back in France, she hopes to share the energy and artistic power of this people, who, despite the persecutions of the past, remain a strong people, constantly fighting to have their rightful place on Australian soil recognized.
