Inspired by the Mediterranean light of Saint-Tropez, SOPHIE BOURGON’s oil paintings, created with a palette knife, celebrate texture and color.
The generous impasto lends depth and movement to the landscapes, while the vivid, sun-drenched tones convey the intensity of the South, where sea, sky, and light converge.
SOPHIE BOURGON, a painter with a contemporary figurative style, has an instinctive and expressive approach to painting. Through compositions where the spontaneity of movement complements her mastery of the medium, the artist seeks to capture the emotion of a place rather than its faithful representation. Her pictorial world celebrates the Mediterranean, its light, and its timeless atmosphere.
Rooted in the unique light of St. Tropez, her Mediterranean paintings are created in oil using a palette knife, in a constant exploration of texture and intensity. Every stroke reveals movement and energy. Color plays a central role: deep blues, warm ochres, and luminous whites interact to convey the warmth, the sea, and the sky of Saint-Tropez.
