Through the eyes of Émile Ollivier, a central and complex figure of this century, this exhibition plunges you into the heart of the conquest of the ballot box. How did people get elected under Napoleon III or at the birth of the Third Republic? Between pressure from prefects, fierce caricatures and the birth of the first political parties, electoral practice became a science, a struggle and, ultimately, a civic duty.
Explore the different levels of elections - from the steeple of Saint-Tropez to the benches of the Palais Bourbon - and discover how struggles over the morality of the ballot and the evolution of our elected representatives have shaped the face of modern France.
