MARPA's work is rooted in purified figurative art and modern primitivism. We can see the influence of the animal movement (reminiscent of François Pompon's synthesis of forms) and an exploration of Bio-morphism.
Its pillars are
1. the Ontology of Matter: marble is not a support, but a living partner whose "mineral memory" MARPA reveals.
2 Transversal Humanism: His background as an educator and trustee infuses his work with a quest for resilience and dignity. Each sculpture is an allegory of care and balance.
3 Tactile Dialogue: Aesthetics are dictated by the hand (organic touch) rather than the eye alone, seeking harmony between raw mass and polished smoothness.
MARPA, the Silence Revealer
Born under the skies of Touraine, MARPA grew up at the confluence of iron and spirituality. Between his father's wrought-iron workshop and the shadow cast by Caravaggio's masterpieces, he forged an eye capable of piercing the density of the world. After a career dedicated to otherness - assisting the most fragile in the twists and turns of human justice - he made a radical return to the land.
A sculptor from the Saint Tropez peninsula, he now engages in a hand-to-hand encounter with millennia-old stone (marble, serpentinite, granite). His art is an exercise in maieutics: he doesn't "create" form, he extracts it from mineral chaos. His hands, guided by an almost mystical intuition, polish the metamorphic rock until it becomes a mirror of humanity. Between perilous balance and tender volumes, MARPA's work is a song of hope, a humble and monumental attempt to restore to Creation the beauty it has entrusted to us.
From 10/09 to 16/09/2026 daily between 10 am and 8 pm.
