Home A sustainable destination
In Saint-Tropez, every moment is an invitation to contemplation: the unique light that attracted many artists, the colorful facades of the old port, the maze of lively alleys, the preserved traditions. The Responsible Tourism Charter in Saint-Tropez invites you to adopt the Tropezian way of life, based on respect, gentleness, and conviviality.
Protecting this unique natural and cultural heritage is everyone’s responsibility. That’s why we invite you to commit to seven simple promises, so that your experience in Saint-Tropez will inspire future generations.
It’s up to you!
The Responsible Traveler Charter
PROMISE NO. 1 | Preserving Saint-Tropez’s natural environment
Saint-Tropez is brimming with natural treasures: trails, beaches, forests and seabeds… I promise to respect them in order to preserve them. No picking, just the desire to observe the fauna, flora and fish in their natural habitat. My rubbish? I keep it in a bag provided for this purpose and if I smoke, I throw my cigarette butt in a pocket ashtray. When swimming in the crystal-clear waters, I choose a sun cream that respects the seabed.

PROMISE NO. 2 | Energy efficiency and sensible cooling I promise to save water and electricity, just like at home. I will use the air conditioning sensibly (24-26°C), use a fan when it’s hot, and take quick showers. Many establishments here are committed to this… and I’m doing my bit too.
|
PROMISE NO. 3 | Happiness without a motor
The pretty village streets can be explored on foot, by bike or by scooter. I’m forgetting about the car for a while. And since the most beautiful way to arrive in Saint-Tropez is by the sea, like Paul Signac and Maupassant did years ago, I arrive by boat, aboard the (partly electric) sea shuttles. A dazzling spectacle guaranteed! And for longer journeys? There are buses, carpooling and public transport. Simple, practical and environmentally friendly.
PROMISE NO. 4 | Zero plastic, or almost
I promise to bring my reusable water bottle, basket or cloth bag. At the market or in shops, there’s no need for disposable plastic. And when recycling is possible, I’ll do it.
|
PROMISE NO. 5 | Local flavours, responsible pleasures The markets will make your mouth water! Be sure to try local specialities such as pastry ‘La Tarte Tropézienne’, goat’s cheese, wines from the Gulf and fresh seasonal produce. I support producers, artisans and traders by buying local. Short supply chains, great discoveries!

PROMISE No. 6 | Heritage and elegance
I promise to explore the village and its heritage with respect: appropriate attire, considerate behaviour, and genuine curiosity.
PROMISE NO. 7 | Live the Saint-Tropez experience
A game of pétanque on the Place des Lices, a chat on the Banc des Mensonges… I mingle with locals and professionals, exchanging smiles, anecdotes and stories. I enjoy local events, share these experiences with my loved ones, and become an ambassador for more responsible tourism.
